Our first clinic day

Today, Tuesday, was our first clinic day. Up at 6am, breakfast at 7am, loaded the bus and drove to the clinic by 9am. When we arrived we were shocked at the length of the line! Today Drs John Hierholzer and Larry Schaffer saw around 40 patients. Everything from a 15 day old baby to, I think, a 75 year old lady was our oldest. We noticed alot of newly diagnosed diabetics today. Many of those spoke Kiche, a Mayan dialect, and we had to have 2 special translators just for them. The Drs Karr(Tom and Carter) saw around 40 dental patients also. Alot of teeth were pulled today...does the tooth fairy give for one of those? Of so, she`ll be really busy tonight. I heard that Dawn and Debbie even pulled one or two. The kids really enjoyed the coloring pages and spanish Veggie Tales we brought. Keith, Kurt and Sharon played ball and who knows what else in the rain with the little ones. Amy did a fantastic job in the pharmacy...but we knew she would. Cydney translated for Dr. John and Pennye, Jim, Calisse, Annette played nurse and were essential utility players at times. They made Mark sit in the corner and do absolutely nothing which is what his wife, that Politz guy and his doctors told him to do (that`s my story and I am sticking to it! Actually I took lots of pictures of the team in action.) It was a very busy and hectic day, but we were done and back to the Hotel San Tomas in Chichi by 4.30pm.

We`ll do some shopping and resting this afternoon, supper at 7pm, followed by devotions. Then back up at 6am tomorrow! Keep praying for us. We´re doing great...its cool and rainy and lush and green. We´re eating way to much and way to often, but who can say NO to such good looking food! Until tomorrow...
